Wednesday, August 16, 2006 – Aventura –Aventura Hospital and Medical Center, CEO Heather J. Rohan was joined by Board of Trustees, community leaders, hospital employees and physicians for a demonstration of new PET/CT Scanner and a ribbon-cutting ceremony of brand new Cardiac Catheterization lab.

“We are proud to bring to our patients and the community the latest in advanced imaging technology, with our new PET/CT Scanner” said Rohan.  “Also, we continue our commitment of expanding our cardiovascular services by completing our second brand new all-digital Cardiac Catheterization lab.”

The PET/CT allows physicians to make accurate diagnoses, often in the early stages, develop targeted treatment plans, provide insight for radiation therapy (RTP) and improve treatment monitoring.  Along with providing better imaging data, this combination of PET and CT in one noninvasive scan notably increases patient comfort and convenience by reducing the scanning time.

Additionally, cardiologists at Aventura Hospital and Medical Center will be utilizing the GE Innova 2100, all-digital cardiovascular imaging system that will assists in better viewing and treatment of coronary artery blockages that could cause heart attacks or other serious cardiovascular damage. This revolutionary system allows cardiologists to view hard-to-see blood vessels with exceptional clarity under even the most difficult conditions.  Aventura Hospital and Medical Center is the only facility in Miami-Dade County that currently has the GE Innova 2100 in operation.

By November 2006 a renovation of 10,000 square feet will be completed with a total of four additional brand new cardiac and vascular angiography rooms at Aventura Hospital and Medical Center.
